In a workshop or stockroom, shadow-free task lighting may matter more than decorative style. In a hallway or rental property, reliability and low maintenance may be the priority. In a kitchen, you may want bright task lighting paired with warmer general lighting.

Do not overlook controls. Motion sensors, timers, daylight sensors, and properly selected dimmers can reduce wasted energy further. They need to be compatible with the chosen LEDs, though. A dimmable bulb does not guarantee trouble-free dimming with every existing switch.
